The source says the Wirral side marks at Caldy and Heswall fish well, and gives no tide guidance for them. For the estuary as a whole it names flounder, dab, summer plaice, Dover sole (more likely near sunset), whiting, summer school bass and mullet, with codling in winter near the mouth and conger from the rougher, rockier areas. For flatfish it suggests size 1 to 2 long-shanked hooks on two or three hook rigs, and size 4 to 6 for Dover sole. Peeler crab is the top bait, with ragworm, lugworm and mackerel strip as alternatives. The map pin is on the Caldy shore; Heswall is the neighbouring stretch down the coast.

Sea fishing needs no rod licence anywhere in the UK - shore, boat or wreck marks are all licence-free.
