About Fishing Spots

I'm a fisherman myself, and I built Fishing Spots because I kept running into the same problem: finding somewhere new to fish in the UK meant digging through scattered forum threads, out-of-date club websites, and a lot of guesswork about what you'd actually catch once you got there.

Fishing Spots is a free map of UK fishing locations — lakes, rivers, reservoirs and sea marks — showing the species you can expect at each one, the access type (free, day-ticket, club or syndicate), and basic parking notes, all in one place. There's no charge, no account needed to browse, and no plan to add one.

It's also built to grow with the people using it. Anyone can add a spot that isn't on the map yet, or leave a comment on an existing one with a recent report. Every submission is checked before it goes live, so the map stays reliable.

Where the data comes from

Location data is drawn from OpenStreetMap and individual fishery or angling-club websites. Species information is sourced from those same venue sites, angling forums and the Environment Agency's open fisheries data, and linked on every spot page so you can check the original source.

This is a growing map — new spots are added on an ongoing basis, alongside fishing news and resources like licence info and a species ID guide.
