Harbour marks at the mouth of the River Ouse, fishing deep water close in. Summer produces mackerel, bass and Dover sole (especially late summer on worm baits), with cod, whiting and flounder taking over through winter.

Access: Free shore access, no rod licence needed for sea fishing

Parking: Parking near the harbour arm and along the Newhaven seafront; some former angling areas are now restricted, check current access before fishing

Late summer sole fishing is a local highlight on ragworm or lugworm, size 4-6 hooks. Nearby Peacehaven and Rottingdean rock marks also fish for bass on spinners and winter cod from the cliffs.

Sea fishing needs no rod licence anywhere in the UK - shore, boat or wreck marks are all licence-free.
