The source says the mark allows short casting into deep water: deeper water over rockier ground towards the right, mixed ground with fewer snags to the left. In summer mackerel fall to feathers, daylights and spinners, and to float fished baits, as do pollock and garfish. Rockier areas give wrasse and potentially conger to large mackerel, herring or squid baits. Red mullet and black bream are other summer species; dogfish and pouting feature all year, with whiting and cod in winter. For a big cod it suggests 4/0 hooks on a pulley rig with big lugworm, squid or mussel bait cast into the rockier areas. It is a long trek down and anglers should watch for rising water as the tide comes in. The mark can be busy when fish are in, and the local council has brought in restrictions on how many mackerel can be retained and on activities such as lighting fires and barbecues. Seasons are set to all year where the source gives none. The map pin is on the Hope's Nose headland.
