Eastney Beach
FreeA steeply shelving shingle beach at the mouth of Langstone Harbour, and a proper all-rounder. Summer brings plaice, gurnard, red mullet and black bream to the cast, while bass and flounder feed right in the wash. When the weather turns, whiting, cod and pouting take over the winter beds.
Access: Free shore fishing from the public shingle beach at Eastney, on the south-eastern tip of Portsmouth
Parking: Street and seafront parking around Eastney and Fort Cumberland; check local signs for restrictions

The shingle drops away steeply, so vary your casting distance until you find the fish: bass and flounder often sit close in, the plaice, gurnard and bream want more range.
