Whitley Bay

Tyne and Wear · Coastal

A proper North East seaside town mark with beach and rock options both, so you can chop and change with the tide. The main sands and the Panama/Half Moon Rocks area both fish, cod and whiting through the winter, bass on the move come summer, plus flounder and coalfish holding year-round in between. St Mary's Island just up the coast is the local landmark to aim off for a bearing.

Access: Free shore access along the beach and promenade rock marks, no permit needed. EA/Environment Agency sea rod licence not required for sea fishing in England.

Parking: Promenade parking and full seafront amenities, cafes and shops right by the mark
