Fishing at high tide from the promenade brings dogfish, rockling, flounder and dab through most of the year, with cod and whiting adding to the mix in winter. It's a more comfortable, easier-access mark than the rough ground at nearby Blackhead, which needs the right conditions before it's worth the walk.

Sea fishing needs no rod licence anywhere in the UK - shore, boat or wreck marks are all licence-free.
