This is shallow, sandy ground, so the fish come to you over low water rather than the top of the tide. Winter means cod and whiting. Summer brings bass from the surf, flatfish, dogfish and a chance of Dover sole. Put a bait out a really long way and a thornback ray is possible, and the source says turbot and smooth-hounds turn up occasionally, so keep a rod on the heavier side in case.
