Spurn Head

East Riding of Yorkshire ·

Free

A narrow, shifting shingle spit reaching out from the Humber Estuary into the North Sea, giving anglers a choice of open sea marks on the seaward side and calmer estuary marks on the Humber side. A classic winter cod venue that also fishes well for flatfish and bass as the water warms.

Access: Free shore fishing; access via Spurn Road along the peninsula (lampposts 20-55 mark a popular winter cod stretch)

Parking: Access along Spurn Road; tidal and weather conditions can affect the road, check before travelling
