Inverbervie Beach

Aberdeenshire · Coastal

Free

A shingle beach with a gully around fifty yards out that's genuinely worth targeting, giving up double-figure cod in autumn and winter over rough, weedy ground. Rotten-bottom rigs help against the snags, and many anglers find it fishes best after dark over high tide.

Access: Free shore access, no rod licence needed for sea fishing

Parking: Beach access at Inverbervie, south of Stonehaven off the A92

Target the gully roughly fifty yards out for the best of the cod fishing, running rotten-bottom rigs to survive the snaggy ground and weed. Best after dark over high tide, with double-figure fish a real possibility in autumn and winter.

Sea fishing needs no rod licence anywhere in the UK - shore, boat or wreck marks are all licence-free.
