Species you can expect

SpeciesBest season
Mackerel Summer
Pollock All
Wrasse Summer
Coalfish All
Dogfish All

Float-fished baits take mackerel, pollock and wrasse around the harbour walls and rocks, while bottom-fished baits on the seabed add pollock, coalfish and dogfish. Feathers and daylights work well for a summer mackerel run, the same tactics that fish nearby Ballylumford Harbour on the other side of Islandmagee.

Sea fishing needs no rod licence anywhere in the UK - shore, boat or wreck marks are all licence-free.
