Garron Point

County Antrim · Coastal

Free

A rugged headland on the Antrim Coast Road where the shore falls straight into deep water, giving a real mix of species across the year. Winter brings coalfish, dogfish, bull huss, pollock and cod, while summer switches the emphasis to mackerel and wrasse. The tiny natural harbour tucked into the point gives a sheltered spot to fish from when the open coast either side is too rough, with the dramatic Antrim coastline as a backdrop.

Access: Free shore access, no rod licence needed for sea fishing

Parking: Roadside parking along the Antrim Coast Road (A2) at Garron Point

The tiny natural harbour at the point gives sheltered fishing when the open headland either side is too exposed. Standard bottom-fished baits cover the winter species, with feathers and lures working well for the summer mackerel and wrasse run.

Sea fishing needs no rod licence anywhere in the UK - shore, boat or wreck marks are all licence-free.
