Cellardyke Harbour

Fife · Coastal

Free

A Fife harbour and piers venue right next to Anstruther, producing large winter cod specimens on black lugworm, mussel and squid, with mackerel strip or sandeel float-fished for summer coalfish, wrasse and pollock. The ground here is very snaggy, tackle losses are expected even with rotten-bottom rigs, and it turns genuinely dangerous on a big tide or in stormy weather, so it's a mark best kept for calm, safe conditions.

Access: Free shore access, no rod licence needed for sea fishing

Parking: Harbourside access in Cellardyke village, adjoining Anstruther

Winter brings the big cod on black lugworm, mussel and squid; summer switches to mackerel strip or sandeel float-fished for coalfish, wrasse and pollock. Stick to calm weather, this mark is dangerous on a big tide or in a storm, and rig for snags on the rough, patchy ground.

Sea fishing needs no rod licence anywhere in the UK - shore, boat or wreck marks are all licence-free.
