Identification
Golden-bronze flanks with a more pronounced upturned mouth than roach, and fins that are typically a deeper, more orange-red. The dorsal fin sits further back on the body than a roach's, a reliable way to tell the two apart.
UK habitat
Prefers still, weedy lakes and ponds across the UK rather than fast rivers, often feeding high in the water column or right at the surface, especially on warm evenings when insects are active.
